چکیده
Methods for assessing mammalian cell death are presented in this article, which is divided into six sections: (1) a brief overview of cytotoxicity and pathways death; (2) method to measure using lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release as marker membrane integrity; (3) flow cytometry that simultaneously measures two types death, necrosis apoptosis; (4) use fluorescence microscopy nuclear morphology assess apoptosis necrosis; (5) the multi-well plates high-content analysis imaging systems morphology; (6) discussion assays determine mechanisms death. © 2021 Wiley Periodicals LLC. Coxsackievirus B3 protease 3C induces cell death in eukaryotic cells
Abstract: Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is the most common agent known to cause viral myocarditis. The viral genome encodes a single polyprotein that is cleaved to produce several proteins by virally encoded proteases. Most of this proteolytic processing is catalyzed by a cysteine protease called 3C. The 3C protease plays major role in viral replication and cellular damage. To understand the mecha...
متن کاملCell death in the mammalian blastocyst.
Cell death is a widespread feature in the blastocysts of many mammals. Isolated cells in both the inner cell mass and the trophectoderm undergo cell death. These dying cells appear morphologically to be undergoing apoptosis. In mouse blastocysts, a wave of cell death is seen in vivo, suggesting that it plays an important role in normal development. However, cell death is increased under subopti...
متن کاملSynergistic Effects of NDRG2 Overexpression and Radiotherapy on Cell Death of Human Prostate LNCaP Cells
Background: Radiation therapy is among the most conventional cancer therapeutic modalities with effective local tumor control. However, due to the development of radio-resistance, tumor recurrence and metastasis often occur following radiation therapy. In recent years, combination of radiotherapy and gene therapy has been suggested to overcome this problem. The aim of the current study was to e...

متن کاملCalcineurin functions in Ca(2+)-activated cell death in mammalian cells
Calcineurin is a calcium-dependent protein phosphatase that functions in T cell activation. We present evidence that calcineurin functions more generally in calcium-triggered apoptosis in mammalian cells deprived of growth factors. Specifically, expression of epitope-tagged calcineurin A induces rapid cell death upon calcium signaling in the absence of growth factors. We show that this apoptosi...
